Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Malcolm Cross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gilbert Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Griffin moves into the clinch successfully.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Cross.
Griffin has Cross pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Cross manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Griffin jumps guard but Cross stands there with Griffin around his waist. Griffin gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
The referee is keeping an eye on Griffin - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Griffin jumps guard but Cross stands there with Griffin around his waist. Griffin gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Cross is pushing Griffin up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Griffin is trying hard to land a takedown here. Cross sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Griffin shoots in for a takedown but Cross shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Cross was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Griffin misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Cross throws a quick counter head kick but Griffin was just out of range.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Griffin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Griffin decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Griffin decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Griffin shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Cross is trying to escape back to his feet but Griffin uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Griffin is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Cross knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Gilbert Griffin has got the better of the ground game so far.

Griffin stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Gilbert Griffin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Griffin clinches up with Cross and pushes him back against the cage.
Griffin wants to break free but Cross has control.

Griffin fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Cross avoids it really well and circles away.
Griffin dives in and grabs Cross's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cross pushes down on Griffin's head and hops out.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Cross keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Griffin's efforts to push away.

Griffin has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Cross stalls.

Cross breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Griffin takes a knee to the side of the body.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Malcolm Cross.
I think Griffin has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
