The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cartlidge dives in for a single leg takedown but Washington sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Cartlidge scores with a nice head shot.


It looks like Faustino Washington has been cut.
Cartlidge shoots for a double leg takedown but Washington sprawls well. He's pushed Cartlidge's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Washington attempts a counter takedown but Cartlidge avoids it well and moves away.

Washington drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Cartlidge bucks up and tries to throw Washington off but instead Washington has got his back!
Cartlidge wants to control his opponent's hands but Washington gets his hands free.
Cartlidge is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Cartlidge tries to escape but Washington has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Cartlidge is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Washington is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Cartlidge has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Washington has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Cartlidge's body.
Washington is not going to allow Cartlidge to sit and survive in this position.

Cartlidge is trying to get back to his feet but Washington has full control of the position and if anything, Cartlidge has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Washington really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Cartlidge.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Washington could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Cartlidge drops Washington with a beautiful combination! Washington stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Cartlidge is looking for the KO!


Washington is rocked!
Cartlidge circles away before darting back in with a big straight right hand. It connects beautifully and sends Washington tumbling to the canvas! He's out cold! Cartlidge wins by KO!
