Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ed Bridges (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arthur Briggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Arthur Briggs is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ed Bridges!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Arthur Briggs!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Taro Takaoka and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bridges shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Briggs sprawls well. Briggs wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bridges gets slowly back to his feet.

Briggs decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Briggs looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Briggs throws a strike but Bridges avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Briggs accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Briggs throws a big right hand that misses.
Bridges wants to stand and escape but Briggs is having none of it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Bridges misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Briggs lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bridges circles away quickly and effectively.
Briggs tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bridges swivels and escapes.
Briggs fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bridges shoots for a double leg takedown but Briggs sprawls well. He's pushed Bridges's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ed Bridges. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Briggs shoots in looking for a takedown but Bridges manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Briggs's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Bridges drives through and clinches with Briggs against the cage.

Briggs has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Bridges is trying to keep an underhook but Briggs manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Briggs frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Briggs fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

and Briggs counters with a single leg into guard. Bridges didn't expect that.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Briggs is pushing down on Bridges's leg trying to pass to half guard. Bridges is fighting to maintain full guard but Briggs has managed to sneak the leg through.
Bridges really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Arthur Briggs dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Briggs tries a head kick but it misses.

Bridges gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Briggs won't allow Bridges to get back to his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Briggs seems to be looking for submissions.
Bridges is staying active underneath Briggs, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Bridges is looking to escape.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bridges won't allow Briggs to pass to mount.

Briggs maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Bridges could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Briggs has cracked it and Bridges is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Briggs!
