Rasheed has chosen In the air tonight as his entrance music. Nikolai Chekhov is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nikolai Chekhov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kaleb Rasheed!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Igor Prikhodko and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rasheed shoots in and drives through. Chekhov sprawls well.
Chekhov stuffs the takedown.

Rasheed shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Chekhov as he jumps to the side.
Nikolai Chekhov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kaleb Rasheed.
Nice takedown defense from Rasheed. No joy for Chekhov on that attempt.
Rasheed doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Chekhov counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Chekhov is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rasheed defends it well.
Chekhov tries to pass to full mount but Rasheed defends it.

Chekhov looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Chekhov wants to work for an arm triangle but Rasheed is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Rasheed punching from the bottom.

Chekhov is looking for a kimura but Rasheed is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Chekhov to get the leverage.
Chekhov is breathing heavily.
Chekhov wants to pass the guard but Rasheed is defending well.
Rasheed is trying to get back to full guard.
Rasheed moves into full guard.

Rasheed escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Chekhov gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Rasheed has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Chekhov can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Chekhov drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Chekhov jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rasheed had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Chekhov is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Rasheed Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Chekhov's back instead.
Rasheed is hanging on to Chekhov's back as he tries to escape.

Chekhov is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Chekhov wants to escape the position.

Rasheed looking to break Chekhov's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Chekhov remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Rasheed will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Rasheed is looking for the choke from the back position but Chekhov is controlling his hands well.
Rasheed is trying to stick to Chekhov's back but Chekhov is turning into Rasheed. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Rasheed's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Chekhov.
Chekhov tries to free his leg and advance position but Rasheed is retaining full guard.

Rasheed lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Chekhov!
Chekhov can't escape the position.
Rasheed looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Chekhov regains half guard.

Rasheed looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Chekhov wants to get back to full guard.

Chekhov manages to get to full guard.
Rasheed postures up and lands a big shot to Chekhov's brow.
Rasheed postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Chekhov wants to sweep but no luck.
Chekhov is working hard here to advance position.
Rasheed postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Rasheed shoots and misses

and Chekhov counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Rasheed!
Rasheed has given up his back.

Chekhov working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Rasheed is doing well to defend. Chekhov seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Rasheed is forced to tap and this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Nikolai Chekhov!
