PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Cain Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ardian Kurniawan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones comes into the arena with Hell's Bells- AC/DC blaring out of the sound system. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cain Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ardian Kurniawan!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Jonathan Paton and Russell Pearce.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Kurniawan with that takedown attempt.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Jones!
Kurniawan dives in and grabs Jones's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes down on Kurniawan's head and hops out.
Kurniawan slips a jab and a cross from Jones.
Kurniawan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jones's waist but Jones gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kurniawan off to one side.
Cain Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ardian Kurniawan.
Jones scores with a hook to the body. Kurniawan takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Kurniawan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but Kurniawan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jones throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kurniawan avoids a punch combination nicely.
Jones lands with a shot to the body.
Kurniawan shoots in for a double leg but Jones sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Jones fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Kurniawan looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Jones swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones tries to bum rush Kurniawan with a series of wild strikes but Kurniawan uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Jones stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jones wants it to stay on the feet.

and Jones counters with a left and a right that stings Kurniawan.
Kurniawan tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Jones defends well and Kurniawan ends up having to push Jones into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Jones lands with an uppercut that bounces Kurniawan off the cage and back into range.
Kurniawan's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Jones connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Kurniawan scrambles back to his feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kurniawan.
Nice takedown defense from Jones. No joy for Kurniawan on that attempt.
Kurniawan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jones sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kurniawan somewhat.
Cain Jones is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kurniawan looks winded!
Jones will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Jones lands a nice shot to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jones connects with a superb combination that knocks Kurniawan out cold! The referee charges across the mat and tackles Jones before he can land any more shots to the unconscious Kurniawan!
