The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lioneau steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Garnaut.
Garnaut tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Lioneau was well out of range. Poor timing from Garnaut.
Lioneau throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Garnaut ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lioneau moves away.
Garnaut throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Lioneau throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

and Garnaut counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Lioneau is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Garnaut pulls his head out easily.
Garnaut is taking a breather. Lioneau says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Garnaut is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Lioneau sees it coming and defends easily.

Lioneau is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lioneau has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Garnaut is working away from the top position though.
Garnaut has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Lioneau tries to lock up and control but Garnaut gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Garnaut sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Garnaut is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Lioneau has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Lioneau is desperately trying to improve his position but Garnaut has a good base and remains in mount.
Lioneau avoids a series of strikes thrown by Garnaut.
Garnaut takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Garnaut is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Lioneau to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Lioneau shrugs it off.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Garnaut is looking to advance position but Lioneau won't allow it.
Lioneau moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Garnaut stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Lioneau throws up his legs and catches Garnaut in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Garnaut tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Lioneau! That came out of nowhere!
