Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Grant Hayes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Cavill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Grant Hayes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, David Cavill!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Chris Edwards and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hayes closes the distance and clinches.
Hayes is trying to pull guard but Cavill has him pressed against the cage.

Hayes ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Hayes no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Cavill trying to move into half guard but instead Hayes has managed to sweep!

Cavill has a closed guard, preventing Hayes from standing up.
Hayes is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Cavill is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cavill lands a couple of decent looking body shots there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hayes postures up and lands a big shot to Cavill's brow.
Hayes lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Hayes really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hayes accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Hayes is looking to stand up but Cavill won't let him.
Cavill controls Hayes momentarily but Hayes frees himself.
Cavill wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Hayes is now in half guard.

Hayes escapes and gets back to his feet.

Hayes closes the distance and clinches.

The referee is keeping an eye on Cavill - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Hayes is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Cavill to keep the fight standing.
Hayes misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Hayes softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Hayes is working for takedown but Cavill is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Grant Hayes. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Cavill manages to break the clinch.
Cavill throws a body punch but Hayes moves out of range.

Cavill shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hayes manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Hayes has his feet on Cavill's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hayes drags the fight down to the ground.
Cavill controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Hayes has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Cavill wants to pass the guard but Hayes is keeping the position.
Hayes throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Cavill stopping the sweep attempt from Hayes.
Cavill must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Cavill looking to sit in guard and control but Hayes gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Hayes wants to get up but he can't break Cavill's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Cavill looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Hayes puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Hayes will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Hayes postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Cavill to stand up.

Cavill tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Hayes is able to avoid easily.
Cavill keeps the fight on the outside.

Hayes drives through and clinches with Cavill against the cage.
Hayes misses with a punch on the inside.
Hayes has Cavill pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Cavill manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Cavill is looking to control Hayes's arms but Hayes gets an underhook and turns him. Now Cavill has his back to the cage.

Cavill breaks the clinch.
Hayes is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Cavill can do to turn this around?

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hayes thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cavill's head.

Cavill is trying to control but Hayes passes into side control!
Cavill is breathing heavily.
Hayes lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Cavill down.
Cavill tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hayes wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Hayes is trying to get an arm triangle but Cavill is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hayes lands a few punches from side control.

Hayes is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Cavill has escaped the position, nice work there.
Cavill wants to get back to his feet but Hayes is dominant here and he's now got Cavill's back!

Hayes has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Cavill has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Hayes lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

Cavill trying to get back to his feet but Hayes is in full control for now.

Cavill is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Cavill is trapped and Hayes is scoring with shots to the head and body.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cavill looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Hayes jumps guard but Cavill stands there with Hayes around his waist. Hayes gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Hayes is working for takedown but Cavill is calmly controlling the position for now.
Hayes tries to score a body lock takedown but Cavill shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Hayes jumps guard but Cavill turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Hayes manages to break the clinch.
Hayes tries to close the distance and clinch but Cavill swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Cavill closes the distance and pushes Hayes back into the cage.

Cavill breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

David Cavill seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hayes clinches up against the cage.

Hayes successfully pulls guard.
Hayes looking to control.

Hayes is working an open guard so Cavill takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Grant Hayes.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hayes, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
