The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Decent striking displayed by Richardson there.
Jones misses with a head kick.

and Richardson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Jones closes the distance and clinches.
Richardson pushes Jones back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

I was talking to Richardson's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Jones is trying to drag Richardson to the mat but Richardson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Richardson.

Jones tries to land knees in the clinch but Richardson avoids the damage to the body.

Jones manages to break the clinch.
Jones ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Richardson moves away.

Jones takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Richardson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Good exchange - Richardson coming out on top.

Richardson wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
George Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Richardson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Jones's head backwards.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Richardson scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Jones doesn't seem bothered though.

Richardson goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

and Richardson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Jones is still on wobbly legs! Can Richardson finish him?
Rock Richardson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of George Jones.
Jones doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Jones seems to have recovered his senses.
Richardson is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Rock Richardson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Richardson drops Jones with a straight right hand, right on the button! Richardson follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!
