Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Renato Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dog Alpha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Renato Alves!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dog Alpha!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Paulo Santos and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Alpha.

Dog Alpha seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fight stays on the outside here - Alpha looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Alves closes the distance and clinches up with Alpha, looking for a takedown. Alves pushes Alpha against the cage but Alpha circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Alpha tries to clinch but Alves is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Alpha ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Alves cracks Alpha with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Alpha tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Alves paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Alpha drives through with a takedown into guard.
Alves bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Alpha's guard.

Alves jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Alpha manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Alpha is doing well to control the position and prevent Alves from advancing to side control.

Alves looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Alves thows a huge punch but Alpha dodges it nicely.

That was a close round but I would say that Renato Alves will probably get the nod.

Alpha tries to clinch there but Alves circles away.
Alpha throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Alves throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Alpha's waist but Alpha gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Alves off to one side.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Alpha tries to clinch but Alves moves out of range.

Dog Alpha showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

It looks like Dog Alpha has been cut.

and Alves makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

and Alves counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Alves shoots in for a double leg but Alpha sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Alpha really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alves. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
