PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Karl Heinz Bauser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Durham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Durham has chosen Fresh Like Us as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Karl Heinz Bauser!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe Durham!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Glass and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Durham has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Bauser.
Bauser misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Durham feints the counter takedown.
Bauser throws a sloppy head kick and Durham moves out of range easily.
Bauser pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Durham checks a low kick from Bauser.
Bauser misses with a head kick.
Durham scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Durham shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Durham was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Durham tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Durham has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The referee asks Durham politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Durham prefers to stall for the moment though.

Bauser wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Durham cracks Bauser with a big right hand but Bauser just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Durham is trying to get an arm triangle but Bauser is defending well.

Durham wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bauser keeps working.

Durham works to advance to full mount. Bauser defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Bauser wants to control but Durham is having none of it.
Bauser really wants to buck Durham off and get back to his feet.
Bauser is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Montreal Fighter's Gym (5* Sparring) that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

You get the feeling that Bauser really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Durham lands with some strikes.

Durham has hold of Bauser's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Bauser manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Durham can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bauser is looking to escape.

Bauser somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!

Durham scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Bauser makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bauser on the wrong end of a nice jab.

Durham darts in looking for a takedown but Bauser gets double underhooks and turns Durham into the cage.
A chopping leg kick lands by Bauser.
Bauser takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Durham takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Durham drives through with a takedown into guard.

Bauser has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Durham has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Bauser breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bauser throws a head kick that misses.
Bauser throws a head kick that half lands.
Bauser throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Durham on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Bauser. Bauser obviously looking to wear him down.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bauser tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Joe Durham will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Durham fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Durham tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bauser swivels and escapes.
Bauser lands a head kick. Durham smiles back at him and beckons him forward.


It looks like Joe Durham has been cut.
Bauser misses with a low kick.
Bauser tries a head kick but it misses.
Bauser throws a head kick that looked like it stung.


Durham is rocked!
Bauser turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

and Durham counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Durham.
Bauser is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Durham drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bauser manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Durham has Bauser in his guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Durham looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Bauser would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Bauser has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Durham to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Bauser is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Durham pulls down on the head and he's put Bauser to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Joe Durham!
Joe Durham took to the mic after the fight and begged the organizational hierarchy for a shot at the title.
