PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Park Jae Sung (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charlie Murphy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jae Sung comes to the cage accompanied by Gangnam Style by PSY. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Charlie Murphy was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Park Jae Sung!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Charlie Murphy!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murphy misses with a low kick as Jae Sung jumps back.
Murphy ducks under a wild hook from Jae Sung.
Jae Sung throws a hook but Murphy avoids it easily.
Jae Sung throws an off balance right hand
and Murphy connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Murphy throws a shot from downtown. Jae Sung moves away and avoids it.
Murphy misses with the combination.

A head kick lands from Jae Sung that sends Murphy to the canvas. Murphy tries to scramble back to his feet but Jae Sung brings him back down into side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Murphy is looking for a sweep.

Jae Sung is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Murphy knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Jae Sung has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Murphy has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jae Sung is working away from the top position though.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Murphy is doing well to control the position and prevent Jae Sung from advancing to side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jae Sung is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Murphy doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jae Sung.
Murphy holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Jae Sung shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Murphy but Murphy pushes him off and we're back to square one.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Murphy throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jae Sung is looking to counter punch.
Murphy takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Jae Sung forces Murphy back against the cage and clinches.
Jae Sung blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Murphy pushes Jae Sung back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Jae Sung tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Murphy's elbow.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Murphy using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Jae Sung has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Jae Sung tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Murphy just stands there and leans against the cage.

Murphy throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Murphy tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Jae Sung's elbow.
Jae Sung misses with a hook from the clinch.

Jae Sung avoids a wild elbow strike from Murphy.
Jae Sung misses with some punches.
Murphy tries a knee to the head but Jae Sung blocks it.
A nice left hand lands by Jae Sung.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Park Jae Sung dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Murphy throws a body punch but Jae Sung moves out of range.
Jae Sung works Murphy's body with a nice hook.
Jae Sung clobbers Murphy with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.


Murphy is rocked!
Jae Sung blocks a head kick by Murphy.
Murphy is still on wobbly legs! Can Jae Sung finish him?
Jae Sung takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Murphy is looking to clinch.
Murphy seems to have recovered his senses.
Jae Sung tries for a takedown but Murphy circles away easily
and Jae Sung takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Jae Sung scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Murphy swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Murphy throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Jae Sung scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jae Sung is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
and Jae Sung counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Murphy! He's just covering up as Jae Sung starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:07 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Park Jae Sung!
Park Jae Sung decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
