Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ed Bridges!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nam Ho Choi!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Kenichi Hosakawa and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bridges pushes Ho Choi up against the cage in a clinch.
Bridges drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ho Choi is looking to break free of the clinch but Bridges has double underhooks.
Bridges jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ho Choi walks away with a smile on his face. Bridges gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bridges checks a leg kick.
Bridges takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

and Bridges counters with a single leg into guard. Ho Choi didn't expect that.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ho Choi can do anything to dispel that myth.

Bridges closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bridges is breathing heavily.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Bridges connects with a nice short shot to Ho Choi's temple.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Bridges lands a nice short elbow.

Ho Choi pushes Bridges off and gets back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ho Choi misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
As Ho Choi looks to move away, Bridges throws a big counter combo bu Ho Choi just gets out of the way.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bridges fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ho Choi sprawls well initially but Bridges persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Ho Choi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bridges. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Bridges throws a big counter combination but Ho Choi scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Bridges decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Ed Bridges overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Bridges decides to stand and escape the position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Bridges closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bridges lands in his opponent's guard.
Ho Choi is looking to stand back up but Bridges counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Ho Choi.

Ho Choi is trying to stand up here but Bridges is controlling him well.

Bridges working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Ho Choi has hold of Bridges's hands but Bridges slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Bridges stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Bridges looks to land a body kick but Ho Choi moved away.
Bridges fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Ho Choi checks it well.

Bridges shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Bridges was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Ho Choi is looking to get back to his feet here but Bridges is keeping cool and he's managed to take Ho Choi's back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bridges is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Ho Choi is defending well though. Bridges let's go of the attempt for now.
Nam Ho Choi is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
