Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Magnus Vantinnen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Connor McClosky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Magnus Vantinnen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Connor McClosky!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Edson Gomes and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McClosky throws a series of punches but Vantinnen avoids them all with ease.
Vantinnen half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

McClosky scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
McClosky lands strikes from half guard.

McClosky is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
McClosky is taking a breather. Vantinnen says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Vantinnen is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but McClosky pulls his head out easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Vantinnen looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McClosky stalling away here and it's allowed Vantinnen to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Vantinnen has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McClosky can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Vantinnen is looking for a triangle but McClosky pushes his legs off easily.
McClosky really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vantinnen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
McClosky keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Vantinnen's head.
Vantinnen wants to sweep here but McClosky controlling him for the moment.

McClosky trying to control the position from guard on top but Vantinnen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
McClosky pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Vantinnen is keeping the position for now.
McClosky content to stall in guard here.

Vantinnen isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. McClosky stacks Vantinnen on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by McClosky!
Vantinnen tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but McClosky wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Vantinnen has one of McClosky's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Vantinnen slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Vantinnen keeping moving, preventing McClosky from controlling successfully.

McClosky stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

McClosky drives through with a takedown into Vantinnen's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
McClosky trying to control the position from guard on top but Vantinnen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Vantinnen is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

McClosky tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Vantinnen manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

McClosky closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Vantinnen sneaks back into half guard.
McClosky seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Vantinnen is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
McClosky is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

McClosky decides to return to a standing position.
Connor McClosky seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A looping hook to the body misses from McClosky. Vantinnen does a little dance to reset his feet.
McClosky tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Vantinnen shoots in but McClosky avoids the takedown attempt easily.
McClosky changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Vantinnen tries to avoid it but McClosky manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Vantinnen to the ground. Vantinnen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Vantinnen is on top in guard.

Vantinnen pushes down on McClosky's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Vantinnen is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Vantinnen is working for a kimura but McClosky is defending it quite comfortably.

That was a close second round but I would say that Magnus Vantinnen will probably get the nod.

Vantinnen has his foot on McClosky's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McClosky works his way back into a safe position though.

Vantinnen working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McClosky doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McClosky manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McClosky got a little sloppy there for a moment and Vantinnen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McClosky has managed to get both his arms back between Vantinnen's legs - danger averted.

McClosky works over Vantinnen with some ground and pound from guard.
McClosky wants to pass the guard but Vantinnen is keeping the position.

Vantinnen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. McClosky manages to get himself to full guard.

I would just about give that final round to Connor McClosky.
Well McClosky has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
