Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Darren Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wally Stalin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Darren Martin is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Darren Martin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Wally Stalin!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Ron Honeybunn and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Martin clinches up against the cage.
Stalin looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Stalin is trying to drag Martin to the mat but Martin just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Stalin has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Martin avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Stalin has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Martin is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Darren Martin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wally Stalin.
Stalin goes for a takedown attempt but Martin pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Stalin drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Martin defends it well.
Stalin has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Martin is landing a low percentage of strikes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Martin tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Stalin's elbow.

Martin has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Stalin uses from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Martin is on top in guard.

Martin slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Stalin has eaten all the pies!

Martin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Martin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Martin is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Martin drops back looking for a leg! Stalin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Stalin manages to kick Martin off! Martin jumps back into Stalin's guard.

Martin wants to control from the top but Stalin keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Martin slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Martin tries for a kimura but Stalin is defending well.
Martin misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Martin tries to score with some ground and pound. Stalin controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Martin throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Martin wants to stand but Stalin has his arm trapped.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Martin throws a strike aimed at the side of Stalin's head but Stalin avoids it well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Martin moves into the clinch successfully.

Martin is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Stalin can't fight it off and eventually Martin manages to take the fight to the floor. Stalin looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Martin has a takedown stuffed.
Stalin drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Martin defends it well.
Darren Martin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Martin shoots in and drives through. Stalin sprawls well.
Martin is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Stalin has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Martin after a bit of a struggle.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Stalin can't get the takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A left hand lands to the body for Martin.

Martin gets control of Stalin's arms and successfully pulls guard. Martin will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Martin stands and steps away. Stalin gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Darren Martin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Stalin stops a takedown attempt from Martin.

Stalin turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Stalin manages to end up in side control.
Martin tries to bench press Stalin off him but Stalin keeps the position.
Stalin avoids the strikes from the bottom by Martin.
Martin is trying to control Stalin's posture but Stalin avoids it.

And Stalin tries to counter it with a takedown but Martin pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Martin shoots in for a double leg but Stalin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Stalin can do anything to dispel that myth.

Martin thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Stalin is refusing to be controlled, as Martin sits in half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Martin is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Stalin is just riding it out for now. Martin eventually gives up the hold.
Martin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

I would just about give that final round to Wally Stalin.
I think Martin has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
