PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alan Terkey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yuri Boyka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Alan Terkey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Yuri Boyka!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, James Ackerman and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Terkey is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Boyka misses with a body punch
and Terkey counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Boyka looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Terkey pushes Boyka off and scrambles back to his feet.
We've been told by Terkey's head coaches at The Fortress that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Terkey changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Boyka tries to avoid it but Terkey manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Boyka to the ground. Boyka escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Boyka throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Terkey slips under a jab.
Boyka misses with a low kick as Terkey jumps back.
Boyka misses with a body shot.

Boyka fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Terkey sprawls well initially but Boyka persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Terkey kicks Boyka off and gets back to his feet.
Boyka misses with a shot to the body

and Terkey counters by moving into the clinch.

Terkey gets control of Boyka's arms and successfully pulls guard. Terkey will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Boyka throws a big right hand that misses.
Boyka must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Boyka tries to free his leg and advance position but Terkey is retaining full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Boyka is looking to work some ground and pound but Terkey has wrist control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boyka landing some decent shots from guard.

Terkey looking for a guillotine here but Boyka defends easily.
Boyka postures up in Terkey's guard and throws a big left but Terkey blocks it.
Boyka is looking to work some ground and pound but Terkey has wrist control.
Terkey pulls Boyka in close to prevent any damage.
Boyka wants to control from the top but Terkey keeps moving.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Boyka accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Boyka wants to get up but he can't break Terkey's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Boyka decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Terkey, up you get!
Boyka wants to clinch

and Terkey counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Boyka is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Terkey defends well.
Boyka really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Terkey. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Terkey seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Terkey advances position into side control!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Boyka can't do much from the bottom here.

Terkey stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Boyka fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Terkey is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Boyka connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Boyka throws a nice looking combination but Terkey bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Terkey shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Boyka sprawls well. Boyka wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Terkey gets slowly back to his feet.
Boyka misses the shot to the body.
Boyka throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Boyka throws a body shot but no joy.
Terkey appears to be looking for a big counter.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Boyka catches Terkey with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Terkey displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Boyka throws out the jab.

Boyka is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Terkey's half guard.

Terkey has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Boyka is on him like a limpet, forcing Terkey back against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Terkey drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Boyka gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alan Terkey. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Boyka's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Yuri Boyka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boyka misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Terkey.
Boyka scores with a jab to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Alan Terkey will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Boyka tries to roll over but Terkey keeps him under control.
Terkey passes the guard and advances to mount!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Boyka can do anything to dispel that myth.

Terkey working for a submission but Boyka is keeping him at bay.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boyka tries to hold on but Terkey pushes him away.
Terkey unloading with bombs!

Boyka is bucking up trying to escape but Terkey cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Boyka tries to buck Terkey off but Terkey takes his back!
Alan Terkey overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Boyka is taking damage to the body and head.

Terkey is working for a rear naked choke. Boyka is not defending it well and Terkey has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Boyka refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Boyka's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Alan Terkey!
