PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sylvester Quinn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kid Cudi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cudi is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: The Prayer. Kid Cudi is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sylvester Quinn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kid Cudi!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Cudi looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Quinn wants to get back to his feet but Cudi is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Cudi tries to free his leg and advance position but Quinn is retaining full guard.
Quinn is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Cudi trying to control but Quinn is working from the bottom.
Quinn really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Cudi missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Quinn will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Quinn can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Cudi controls the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Quinn moves in looking to clinch but Cudi pushes him off.
As Quinn backs off Cudi throws a huge counter combo but Quinn manages to avoid it all.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Cudi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Quinn was covering up waiting for the punch and Cudi finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Quinn uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Quinn looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Cudi lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Quinn avoids the head kick by Cudi.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Quinn tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cudi paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Cudi throws a counter combo.
Quinn fails with a takedown attempt.
Cudi drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Quinn defends it well.

Cudi shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Quinn's guard.
Quinn avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Quinn utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Quinn wants to stand up but Cudi is controlling him.
Quinn pulls Cudi in close to prevent any damage.
Cudi not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cudi wants to control from the top but Quinn keeps moving.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Quinn utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kid Cudi dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Quinn clinches up against the cage.

Quinn breaks the clinch.
Cudi thows a leg kick but Quinn checks it
and Quinn counters with a two punch combo.
Quinn dives in for a single leg takedown but Cudi sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Quinn tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cudi decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Quinn is trying to escape back to his feet but Cudi uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Cudi wants to take a breather but Quinn manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Cudi.

Quinn is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cudi is controlling him.

Cudi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Quinn swivels though and keeps the full guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Cudi working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Quinn working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Cudi.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cudi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Quinn swivels though and keeps the full guard.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Quinn is looking to stand up but Cudi isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Cudi closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Quinn is trying to get back to his feet.
Cudi taking a break here but Quinn is having none of it and regains half guard.
Cudi thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Cudi has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Quinn has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cudi is working away from the top position though.

That was a close second round but I would say that Sylvester Quinn will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Quinn avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Cudi.
Quinn is looking to escape.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Cudi thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Cudi passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Quinn!

Cudi jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Quinn manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Cudi lands a few punches from side control.
Kid Cudi has got the better of the ground game so far.

Cudi takes a little break here. Quinn wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Kid Cudi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Cudi has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
