PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Keith Moon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kerry King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). King has chosen south of heaven as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Keith Moon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kerry King!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moon fails with the takedown.
Moon misses with a double jab.
King misses with a jab, cross combination.
Moon wants to clinch.
King throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Moon has a takedown stuffed.
King lands a head shot.


It looks like Keith Moon has been cut.
Moon swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Moon shoots for a double leg takedown but King sprawls well. He's pushed Moon's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Keith Moon. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Moon misses with a wild body shot.
King scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Moon doesn't seem bothered though.
Moon is breathing heavily.
Moon throws a leg kick but King moved away.
Moon throws a combination but it was largely blocked by King.

King moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Moon. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

King connects with a body shot.
King rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Moon moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
King changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Moon.
Moon shoots in but no luck this time.
King lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

King lands an overhand right.
King throws a series of punches but Moon avoids them all with ease.
King works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Moon shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Moon looking for a guillotine from mount but King is having none of it.
King avoids a series of strikes thrown by Moon.
King really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Moon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Moon has control of King's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and King regains control of the situation pretty easily.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if King can do anything to dispel that myth.
King takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Moon unloads with some shots from mount but King bucks and avoids them well.
Moon lands with some strikes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Moon throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Moon working for a submission but King is keeping him at bay.
King holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Moon tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Moon looking to secure an arm triangle but King defends it well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


King throws a right and a left that both miss.

Moon shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in King's guard.
Moon looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
King can't keep his opponent in guard - Moon advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Moon passes to side control.
Moon trying to control the position but King is working away.
King is breathing heavily.

Moon is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. King knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Moon tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Moon has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Moon stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Danga de danga de dang - King scores with a four punch combination!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Good work by King as he checks the leg kick.
King stuffs the takedown attempt from Moon. Moon gets slowly back to his feet.
King fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
King goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.


Keith Moon's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
King throws a right and a left that both miss.
Kerry King is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
King lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
King scores with a one two! Moon had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Moon drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
King is pushing Moon's head away, looking to escape. Moon manages to hold on to the position though.

Moon thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Moon has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Moon works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Moon landing strikes.
King avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Moon.

Moon cracks King with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Moon remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Moon throws a strike but King rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Kerry King comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got King winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
