Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ervin Webster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joao Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Santos shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Webster is trying to defend but Santos finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Santos thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Webster's head.
Santos stalling away here and it's allowed Webster to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Webster wants to stand and escape but Santos is having none of it.

Santos stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Santos tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Webster manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Webster throws a big counter combination but Santos scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Santos misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Santos bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Webster's head backwards.

Webster gets caught napping as Santos dives in and scores a takedown. Webster manages to retain guard.
Santos postures up in Webster's guard and throws a big left but Webster blocks it.
Webster is looking to stand up but Santos isn't so interested in that idea.

Santos drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Webster manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Santos has Webster in his guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Santos is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Webster can't fight it off and eventually Santos manages to take the fight to the floor. Webster looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Webster is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Santos is aware though and is defending well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
