PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Dmonray Malapitan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tapda Mattus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Malapitan comes into the arena with My Time is Now blaring out of the sound system. Mattus comes into a darkened arena with his song building. My heart kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 24 - 1, fighting out of New York, Dmonray Malapitan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tapda Mattus!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Jeff Smith and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mattus closes the distance and clinches up with Malapitan, looking for a takedown. Mattus pushes Malapitan against the cage but Malapitan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Malapitan looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Mattus is refusing to be controlled, as Malapitan sits in half guard.
Malapitan looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mattus with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Malapitan lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Malapitan lands a nice short elbow.

Malapitan is looking for a kimura but Mattus is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Malapitan to get the leverage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mattus is trying to control but can't.
Malapitan is keen to just control but Mattus is a slippery customer.
Malapitan looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Mattus is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Mattus on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Malapitan drops an elbow to the side of Mattus's head.
Malapitan lands strikes from half guard.


Mattus is rocked!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mattus is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Malapitan pulls his head out easily.
Mattus is still in real trouble! Can Malapitan finish him?
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Malapitan connects with a nice short shot to Mattus's temple.

Mattus looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Malapitan wants to control but Mattus is keeping him busy.
Mattus seems to have recovered his senses.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Malapitan lands a nice short elbow.

Malapitan is working for a kimura but Mattus is defending it quite comfortably.
Malapitan is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Mattus!
BOOM! Malapitan connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Mattus is in a horrible position here. Malapitan smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Malapitan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Mattus throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Malapitan sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Malapitan is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Mattus to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Mattus shrugs it off.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mattus really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Malapitan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Mattus tries to lock up and control but Malapitan gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Malapitan lands with some strikes.
Malapitan lands a nice shot to the head.
Mattus slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Mattus is trying to maintain the position but Malapitan is very close to passing his half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Malapitan takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Malapitan is nestled in close to Mattus, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Malapitan is looking for a kimura but Mattus is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Malapitan to get the leverage.
Malapitan is keen to just control but Mattus is a slippery customer.
Mattus is trying to get back to full guard.

Malapitan working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Mattus really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Malapitan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Malapitan is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Malapitan moves into full mount! Mattus won't be happy about that!
Mattus tries to hold on but Malapitan postures up.
Mattus throwing hammer fists to the chest of Malapitan. What's that going to do exactly?

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Malapitan raining down shots from the mount!
Mattus is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Malapitan cracks Mattus with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
A nice elbow there by Malapitan.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Malapitan loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Mattus scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Malapitan land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Malapitan stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dmonray Malapitan!
A relieved looking Dmonray Malapitan thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
