PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Stuart Head (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gravell Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Stuart Head!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Gravell Williams!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Ackerman and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Williams closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Williams breaks the clinch.
Williams misses with a takedown attempt - Head sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Head counters with a shoot takedown. Williams fights it but they end up in guard.

Williams pushes Head off and scrambles back to his feet.

Williams has Head up against the cage in a clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Head chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Williams can pounce on him.

Williams has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Head has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Head seems keen to control Williams's posture.

Williams has his foot on Head's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Head works his way back into a safe position though.

Head has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Williams is looking for a sweep. Head is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Williams's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Williams jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Head walks away with a smile on his face. Williams gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Williams tries to close the distance and clinch but Head swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Head accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Williams wants to stand but Head is controlling the position.

Williams escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Head gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Head loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Head is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Williams can do to turn this around?

Head gets to his feet. Williams looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Williams drops down looking for an ankle pick but Head pulls his leg out and moves away.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Stuart Head.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Head, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
