Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Charles Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Larry Kushman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Charles Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Larry Kushman!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - Kushman throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Brown looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Kushman looking for submissions off his back.
Kushman is looking to improve his position.
Kushman desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Ground and pound from Brown.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kushman wants to improve his position but Brown is controlling well.
Kushman keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Kushman is trying is best to control the position here.
Brown tries to pass to full mount but Kushman defends it.

Kushman manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Kushman is looking to improve his position.

Brown seems to be working for a kimura but Kushman defends the submission attempt.
Brown tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kushman knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Brown is working for a submission of some sort.
Kushman is not content to let Brown control the position.
Kushman trying to control but Brown postures up.

Kushman is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Brown pulls his head out easily.
Brown looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kushman with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Kushman wants to improve his position but Brown is controlling well.

Brown is trying to control. Kushman wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Kushman is in trouble now - Brown has advanced to mount!

Kushman sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

That has opened up Larry Kushman's cut even more.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kushman tries to hold on but Brown postures up.
Kushman is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Brown can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kushman is looking to escape.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Charles Brown dominated that round.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


A combination from Kushman does no damage.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Brown.
Brown shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kushman as he jumps to the side.
Brown is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kushman throws a right and a left that both miss.
Kushman throws out a loose jab but Brown uses good head movement to avoid it.

Kushman tries to keep at a distance but Brown has taken the fight into the clinch.
Kushman can't find room to land a body shot as Brown controls the action.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The referee is keeping an eye on Kushman - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Kushman.

Kushman swings wildly with an uppercut but Brown uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kushman misses with a short punch on the inside.
Kushman pressing his opponent against the cage.
Kushman using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Brown has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Kushman struggles to land a body shot inside as Brown controls his hands.
Kushman tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Kushman fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Kushman is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Kushman tries to throw a body punch but Brown avoids it by throwing Kushman back against the cage.
Kushman lands a left hand.
Kushman gets underhooks to prevent Brown's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Charles Brown. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Brown is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Kushman is defending well.
Brown's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Kushman makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Kushman with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Brown blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Kushman has picked Brown up - he's going for a ride! Kushman dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Kushman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Brown keeps working.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Kushman working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Brown is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kushman's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kushman's back!

Charles Brown overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kushman tries to roll but Brown sticks to his back.
Brown doesn't have the hooks in and Kushman manages to turn into his guard.
Brown bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kushman's guard.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kushman controls Brown momentarily but Brown frees himself.

Brown wants to pass the guard but Kushman is keeping the position.
Kushman wants to sweep but no luck.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Brown is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Brown stands up over Kushman, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Larry Kushman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Brown closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Brown lands in his opponent's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Kushman is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Brown scores with a couple of nice shots.
Kushman has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Brown is working away from the top position though.
Brown takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Brown prevents Kushman from improving his position.
Brown working over Kushman with some ground and pound. Kushman looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Brown is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kushman doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Brown.
Brown wants to control but Kushman is keeping him busy.

Kushman is trying to control but can't.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Brown frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Kushman is looking to get to half guard.

Charles Brown showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Brown has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
