Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Remigijus Morkevicius!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Riki Horiguchi!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Sosuke Kotani and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horiguchi tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
It looked like Morkevicius was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Horiguchi clinches with his opponent.
Morkevicius wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Horiguchi has him pressed against the cage.

Morkevicius looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Morkevicius tries to pull guard but Horiguchi holds him up against the cage and eventually Morkevicius drops back down to his feet.
Morkevicius fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Horiguchi should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Horiguchi misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Morkevicius.
Morkevicius's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Morkevicius goes for a takedown in the clinch but Horiguchi prevents it.

Horiguchi ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Horiguchi no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Horiguchi moves into the clinch successfully.
Horiguchi lands a good knee to the midsection. Morkevicius won't want to take too many of those.
Horiguchi wants a takedown but no success here.
Horiguchi is working for takedown but Morkevicius is calmly controlling the position for now.
Morkevicius changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Horiguchi fights it off and pushes away nicely.

We've been hearing good reports from Morkevicius's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Horiguchi manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Morkevicius manages to get himself to full guard.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Horiguchi forces Morkevicius back against the cage and clinches.
Horiguchi is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Morkevicius gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Morkevicius has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Horiguchi after a bit of a struggle.

Horiguchi manages to break the clinch.
Horiguchi tries a low kick but Morkevicius avoids it.
Morkevicius swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Horiguchi clinches up with Morkevicius and pushes him back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Horiguchi is looking for a triangle but Morkevicius pushes his legs off easily.

Horiguchi has his feet on Morkevicius's thighs here. He's pushed Morkevicius off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Morkevicius screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
