Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mario Pala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Todd Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mario Pala!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Todd Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Sandra Marshall and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pala will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Johnson misses with a straight left.
A telegraphed right hand from Johnson misses the target.
Johnson avoids the head kick by Pala.
Johnson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Pala closes the distance and clinches.
Come on Pala - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Johnson is trying to break the clinch but Pala has him pressed against the cage.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pala ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Pala no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Johnson stands up over Pala, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Johnson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Johnson tries to advance to mount but can't.

Johnson decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Pala looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Johnson scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Johnson lands a jab.

Pala has managed to clinch.
Pala is working for takedown but Johnson is calmly controlling the position for now.
Pala prevents Johnson from breaking the clinch.

Johnson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Pala takes a jab right on the kisser.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Pala on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Pala shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Johnson but Johnson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mario Pala. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Johnson drops Pala with a left right combo! Johnson follows him down to the ground into side control.


Pala is rocked!

Johnson stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Johnson scores with a shot to the body.

Pala closes the distance and clinches.
Pala can't find room to land a body shot as Johnson controls the action.
A frustrated look appears on Johnson's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Johnson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Johnson scores with a leg kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pala moves out of range of the body kick from Johnson.
Johnson throws a one two combo.
Some bone on bone action there as Pala checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Johnson has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Pala is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Pala fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Johnson, pushing him back against the cage.
Johnson wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Pala has Johnson pressed against the cage, preventing Johnson from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Pala keeps control of Johnson as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Pala pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Johnson throws a body punch but Pala moves out of range.
Johnson darts in trying to clinch

and Pala counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Pala engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Pala pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Johnson is keeping the position for now.

Pala stands up and waves to Johnson to follow him.
Pala has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Johnson.
Johnson throws out a powerful jab.
Johnson throws an ugly left hook that misses

so Pala counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Johnson has his feet on Pala's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Todd Johnson dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Pala closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Pala breaks the clinch.
Johnson connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Pala's hands.
Johnson throws a body kick that misses.
Pala is looking to counter the offense by Johnson and move into the clinch.
Johnson connects with a looping right hand.
Oh Pala is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Johnson attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Pala seems to have got his legs back now.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Johnson, right into the meat.
Johnson lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Johnson connects with a leg kick. Pala looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Pala clinches up against the cage.

Pala works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Johnson pushes Pala off and gets back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Johnson scores with a jab to the head.

Pala tries to clinch up but Johnson circles away and keeps his distance.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Pala.
Pala closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Johnson throws out a powerful jab.
Johnson tries to land a leg kick but Pala saw it coming and moves away.
Nice defenses there by Pala.
Johnson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Johnson tried to score with a low kick but Pala checks it.
Johnson cracks Pala with a good jab.
Johnson chopping away at his opponent's legs.

Johnson throws a left that rocks Pala and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Johnson dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Pala regain composure!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pala gets back to half guard.

Johnson controlling the action here.
Pala is trying to stand up here but Johnson is controlling him well.
Pala is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Johnson tries to stand and escape but Pala is controlling the position.

Johnson thows a huge punch but Pala dodges it nicely.

Pala looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Pala is trying to control but can't.
Pala is refusing to be controlled, as Johnson sits in half guard.
Johnson is looking to pass Pala's guard but actually Pala recovers to full guard.

Johnson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Todd Johnson seems to be getting the better of the standup.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Johnson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Pala just leaning against Johnson, taking a breather.
Johnson tries to break the clinch but Pala is controlling the position.
Pala goes for a takedown attempt but Johnson pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Johnson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Pala takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Johnson lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Johnson lands a front kick.
Johnson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Todd Johnson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Pala uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Johnson.

Johnson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Pala to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Pala trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Pala slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Johnson has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Pala off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Pala takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Mario Pala is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Johnson feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Pala's calf.
Pala shoots in looking for a takedown. Johnson tries to sprawl out of it but Pala keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Johnson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Todd Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Johnson lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Pala tries to clinch up.
Johnson's jab looks to have found its range, popping Pala under the eye.

Johnson drops Pala with a right and a left! Johnson comes rushing in but Pala regains his composure and manages to keep Johnson in guard.
Pala on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Pala tries to get out of the position.

Johnson wants to control from the top but Pala keeps moving.
Johnson is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Pala has his hands on Johnson's head, controlling the position.

Johnson throwing strikes from guard but Pala blocks nicely.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Pala throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Johnson! But no joy.
Pala takes a jab right on the kisser.
Johnson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Johnson gets caught flat footed, as Pala shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Johnson is wriggling around but Pala manages to pass to half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Pala prevents Johnson from standing back up.
Johnson is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Pala content to control rather than advance.
Johnson is doing well to control the position and prevent Pala from advancing to side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Todd Johnson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Johnson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
