Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gaylord Curry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Hernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Michael Hernandez will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gaylord Curry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Hernandez!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Dean Styles and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Curry tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hernandez swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Hernandez moves into the clinch successfully.

Hernandez has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Curry is trying to keep an underhook but Hernandez manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Hernandez is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Curry tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Curry has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Hernandez is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Curry sees it coming and defends easily.
Curry gets back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hernandez tries to free his leg and advance position but Curry is retaining full guard.

Hernandez won't allow Curry to get back to his feet.
Curry really is a fat lump.
Hernandez lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Curry manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Hernandez drives through with a takedown into Curry's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Curry has his feet on Hernandez's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Curry closes the distance and clinches.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Curry wants to break the clinch but can't.
Curry is looking to break free of the clinch but Hernandez has double underhooks.
Hernandez has Curry pressed against the cage, preventing Curry from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Curry is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Hernandez pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Curry is breathing heavily.

Hernandez pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Hernandez closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Still in half guard, Hernandez seems content to control.
Hernandez tries to pass the half guard into mount. Curry knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Hernandez takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Hernandez wants to pass to mount but Curry is defending the position.
Hernandez prevents Curry from standing back up.
Hernandez tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Curry.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Hernandez is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Curry reverses the position - he's now on top in Hernandez's guard.
Hernandez has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Curry prevents Hernandez from getting back to his feet.

Hernandez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Curry gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Curry accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Curry avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Curry with a flurry of punches that miss.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hernandez is trying to control the position but Curry postures up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Curry tries to clinch but Hernandez moves out of range.
Curry throws a nice inside leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Gaylord Curry will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Curry moves into the clinch.
Hernandez tries a knee to the head but Curry blocks it.
Curry is looking for a takedown.
Hernandez lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Curry backwards.

Curry breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Hernandez drives through and clinches with Curry against the cage.
The referee calls for Hernandez to work.
Curry working hard to break the clinch.
Curry is trying to force a seperation but Hernandez has the dominant position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hernandez stalling.

Hernandez has hold of one of Curry's legs. Curry is fighting the takedown attempt but Hernandez gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Curry is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Hernandez presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Hernandez is breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Curry pulls guard.

Hernandez with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Hernandez looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Hernandez in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Gaylord Curry overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Hernandez advances to half guard.
Hernandez prevents Curry from standing back up.
Curry is trying to control but can't.
Hernandez lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Curry pushes Hernandez off but Hernandez dives into side control.

Hernandez is working Curry over with some ground and pound from side control.
Hernandez works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Curry seems a little lost for a moment, as Hernandez dominates the positioning.
Curry tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Hernandez stands up and beckons Curry to his feet.

Hernandez instigates a clinch.

Hernandez jumps guard and drags Curry to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Hernandez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Curry is looking to work some ground and pound but Hernandez has wrist control.
Hernandez looking to hit a scissor sweep but Curry is one step ahead there.
Hernandez not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hernandez throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hernandez can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Curry throws a big elbow that misses.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
The fight stays on the outside here - Curry looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hernandez rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Curry moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Curry throws a sloppy head kick and Hernandez moves out of range easily.
Curry fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hernandez avoids it really well and circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Michael Hernandez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Curry gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hernandez to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Curry wants to sweep but no luck.

Hernandez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Curry manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hernandez manages to get himself to full guard.

Curry tries to score with some ground and pound. Hernandez controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Hernandez closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Curry's guard.

Curry has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Hernandez is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Curry drops down looking for an ankle pick but Hernandez pulls his leg out and moves away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Curry enables Hernandez to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Curry manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Curry pushes Hernandez off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hernandez tries to close the distance and clinch but Curry swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hernandez tries to clinch up but Curry circles away and keeps his distance.
Curry throws a quick counter kick to the body but Hernandez avoids it.

Curry is trying to force a seperation but Hernandez has the dominant position.

Curry manages to break the clinch.

Curry is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Hernandez controlling from the top position.
Curry has momentary wrist control but Hernandez slips an elbow through the middle.

And that's the end of the fight!
Gaylord Curry showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Curry has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
