Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between German Valdez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gaudencio Roman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). German Valdez has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 34 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, German Valdez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gaudencio Roman!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roman connects with a good right hand that stumbles Valdez. Valdez circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Roman throws a jab when Valdez was well out of range.
Valdez shoots in but Roman avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Roman lands a nice leg kick that just misses Valdez's sensitive parts.
A nice leg kick lands there from Roman.
Some wild striking there from Roman.
Roman feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Valdez's calf.
Valdez drops his hands momentarily and Roman takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
German Valdez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Roman throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Valdez.
Nice shot lands for Roman.
Valdez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Roman as he avoids it easily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Valdez is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Roman.

Roman looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Valdez is trying to control but can't.

Valdez is trying to maintain the position but Roman is very close to passing his half guard.

Valdez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Roman is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Roman seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Roman seems to be working for a kimura but Valdez defends the submission attempt.
Roman is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Roman is controlling the pace.
It looks like Roman might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Roman is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Valdez sees it coming and defends easily.
Valdez is trying to control but can't.
Roman perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Valdez is trying to control but can't.

Valdez is defending against the submission attempts here by Roman.
Roman prevents Valdez from standing back up.
Roman sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Roman passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Valdez!
Valdez sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Roman in particular looking to stall.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gaudencio Roman dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Roman throws a hook but Valdez avoids it easily.
Nice sprawl there from Roman as Valdez shoots in.
Gaudencio Roman seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Valdez avoids the body shot from Roman.
Valdez changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Valdez looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Roman defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Valdez.
Roman throws out a counter right but Valdez avoids it with no problem.

Valdez drives through with a takedown into guard.
Roman looking to hit a scissor sweep but Valdez is one step ahead there.
Roman has his hands on Valdez's head, controlling the position.

Roman throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Valdez escapes and throws Roman's legs to the side, diving into side control!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Valdez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Roman keeps working.

Roman is trying to control Valdez's posture but Valdez avoids it.
Roman is trying to get back to half guard.
Roman gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Roman tries to lock up and control but Valdez gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Valdez manages to capitalize on a mistake by Roman to take his back!
Roman can't escape the position.
Valdez gets his hands free as Roman looks to control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Roman wants to get back to his feet.

Valdez has managed to slip his arm under Roman's chin. This could be all over... yep, Roman is tapping out! Submission win for Valdez.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). German Valdez!
German Valdez decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
