Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Toby Everett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Toby Everett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Roosa Järviläinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Everett sprawls well initially but Johnson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Everett keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Johnson thows a huge punch but Everett dodges it nicely.

Johnson stands up from half guard.

Johnson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Johnson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Johnson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Johnson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Everett works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Everett is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Johnson is controlling him.
Everett really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Johnson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Johnson wants to control from the top but Everett keeps moving.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Everett drags the fight down to the ground.

Everett is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Johnson defends well.
Everett is looking to sweep but instead, Johnson has passed into half guard.

Johnson stands up from half guard.

Johnson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Everett quickly recovers to half guard.
Everett pushes Johnson off but Johnson dives into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Johnson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Everett to the mat! Everett manages to get full guard.
Everett tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Everett is working hard here to advance position.
Johnson is pushing down on Everett's leg trying to pass to half guard. Everett is fighting to maintain full guard but Johnson has managed to sneak the leg through.

Johnson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Johnson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Everett swats him away and circles back towards the center.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Well, if Johnson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Johnson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Johnson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

and Everett counters with a three punch combo that has Johnson backing up. Johnson nods at Everett to acknowledge the strikes.

Johnson throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Johnson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johnson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Johnson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Everett does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Everett dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Johnson. That did some damage!

Everett is looking to improve his position but Johnson isn't that keen on the idea.

Johnson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Johnson jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Everett is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Everett and Johnson has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Johnson decides to stand back up. Johnson steps back and let's Everett get back to his feet.

Johnson throws a sloppy head kick and Everett moves out of range easily.

Everett gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Johnson to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Johnson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Johnson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Everett scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Johnson fails in his attempt to clinch.
Everett chopping away at his opponent's legs.

Johnson closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Everett's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Johnson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Johnson passes Everett's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Toby Everett has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
John Johnson is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Everett is looking for a sweep. Johnson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

And that's the end of the fight!
John Johnson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Johnson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
