The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aldo with a nice cross.

Aldo misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sakei misses with an uppercut
and Aldo counters with a nice low kick that buckles Sakei's knee momentarily.
Aldo fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Sakei throws a head kick that misses.
A head kick misses from Aldo.
Aldo fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Sakei on the side of the head.
Aldo tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Aldo misses with a low kick.
Aldo misses the shot to the body.
Aldo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Aldo throws a sloppy head kick and Sakei moves out of range easily.
Sakei is looking to counter the offense by Aldo and move into the clinch.

Sakei tries a head kick but it misses.
Gustavo Aldo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sakei pivots, looking for a leg kick but Aldo is out of range and Sakei settles back down.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Aldo! But no joy.
Aldo throws a sloppy head kick and Sakei moves out of range easily.
Sakei changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Sakei throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Aldo looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.
Aldo throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Sakei throws a quick counter head kick but Aldo was just out of range.
Good exchange - Aldo coming out on top.
Aldo has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

Sakei closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Sakei is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Aldo looks calm but he's in trouble here. Sakei gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Aldo is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Sakei lets go of the hold and Aldo can pop his arm back in it's socket.
