The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Smith preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Boykiy works over Smith with some ground and pound from guard.
Smith is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Smith is looking to pass Boykiy's guard but actually Boykiy recovers to full guard.
Smith throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Boykiy works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Boykiy is trying to control the position but Smith postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Boykiy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Smith doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Smith manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Boykiy throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Smith escapes and throws Boykiy's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Smith has hold of Boykiy's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Boykiy manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Smith can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Boykiy is looking to escape.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Boykiy is in a horrible position here. Smith smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
