Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Wilson Tony (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marjorie Dawes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marjorie Dawes has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 1, fighting out of New York, Wilson Tony!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marjorie Dawes!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Joseph Jones and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tony connects with a jab.
Tony lands with a cross.
Tony waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Dawes.
Tony lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Tony throws a shot from downtown. Dawes moves away and avoids it.
Tony moves into range and connects with a jab.

Dawes bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Tony manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Dawes lands strikes from half guard.
Dawes controlling the action here.
Tony has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Dawes is working away from the top position though.

Dawes is looking for a kimura but Tony is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dawes to get the leverage.
Tony gets full guard.

Dawes avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Tony looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Tony has momentary wrist control but Dawes slips an elbow through the middle.
Dawes scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Dawes pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Tony is keeping the position for now.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Tony is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Dawes is aware though and is defending well.
Dawes with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Tony is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Dawes trying to control the position from guard on top but Tony is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Dawes scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Dawes sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Dawes drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dawes jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Tony isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Dawes stacks Tony on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Dawes!

Tony is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Dawes seems to be looking for submissions.
Dawes prevents Tony from improving his position.

Dawes looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Tony is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Dawes looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tony fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Dawes walks into a stiff left hand from Tony.
Dawes takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Dawes shoots in looking for a takedown but Tony manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Dawes's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Tony throws an off balance right hand

and Dawes counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Tony gets back to full guard.
Dawes is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Dawes controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Dawes wants to control from the top but Tony keeps moving.
Dawes working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Tony's head.

Tony working for a triangle but Dawes defends it easily.

Tony has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dawes can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Dawes works over Tony with some ground and pound from guard.

Tony is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Dawes defends well.
Dawes wants to pass the guard but Tony is keeping the position.
Dawes keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Tony's head.

Tony wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Dawes is now in half guard.

Dawes is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Dawes is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Dawes is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Dawes takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Dawes wants to control but Tony is keeping him busy.
Dawes is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Dawes is thwarting Tony's attempts to control the position.
Tony is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Dawes's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Dawes's back!

Tony has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Dawes has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Dawes tries to escape but Tony has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Dawes rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Dawes is defending against the submission attempts here by Tony.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dawes is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Dawes keeping moving, preventing Tony from controlling successfully.
Dawes is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Marjorie Dawes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Dawes feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Dawes has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Tony tries to bench press Dawes off him but Dawes keeps the position.

Dawes tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dawes has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Tony is not content to let Dawes control the position.

Dawes thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
You can see the frustration on Tony's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Tony is trying to get back to half guard.
Tony is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Check out the look on Dawes's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Tony tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Dawes presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Tony tries to lock up and control but Dawes gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Tony wants to control but Dawes is having none of it.
Dawes is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Tony can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Dawes lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Tony tries to hold on but Dawes postures up.

Dawes has control of Tony's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Tony regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Dawes scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Dawes has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Tony's face.
Dawes breaks from Tony's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Dawes goes for an armbar but Tony turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Tony.
Dawes manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Tony manages to get himself to full guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Tony working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dawes doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dawes manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

I've got Dawes winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
