PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dudley Flowers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fuyuki Yamamoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dudley Flowers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Fuyuki Yamamoto!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Yamamoto drives through with a takedown into Flowers's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Flowers escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Yamamoto gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Yamamoto throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Flowers works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Yamamoto works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Yamamoto looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Yamamoto is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yamamoto working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Yamamoto is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Flowers defends it well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Yamamoto fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Flowers to the ground. Yamamoto is now in Flowers's guard.

Yamamoto stands up over Flowers, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Yamamoto pushes down on Flowers's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Flowers tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Yamamoto has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fuyuki Yamamoto dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Flowers is not content to let Yamamoto control the position.

Flowers might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Yamamoto lands some shots froms side control.
Flowers really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...

Yamamoto thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The referee asks Yamamoto politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Yamamoto prefers to stall for the moment though.

Yamamoto advances to full mount.
Yamamoto controlling his opponent.
Yamamoto fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Flowers takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Yamamoto controlling the pace for now.
Yamamoto has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Yamamoto is continuing to stall.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fuyuki Yamamoto showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Flowers tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Flowers tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Yamamoto manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Flowers throws a head kick but Yamamoto moves out of range.

Flowers could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Yamamoto tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Flowers is able to avoid easily.
Flowers tried to counter with a leg kick but Yamamoto avoided it.

Yamamoto throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Flowers was covering up waiting for the punch and Yamamoto finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Flowers has Yamamoto pulled in close to control his posture.
Flowers has momentary wrist control but Yamamoto slips an elbow through the middle.

Yamamoto wants to stand but Flowers has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Yamamoto stands and throws Flowers's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Yamamoto lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Yamamoto is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Flowers is trying to escape and Yamamoto transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Flowers is forced to tap! Nice work there by Yamamoto! Very nice indeed!
