Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bob Carver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bob Carver has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bob Carver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Hawk!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carver fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hawk, pushing him back against the cage.

Carver has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Hawk regains guard immediately.
Carver missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Carver throwing strikes from guard but Hawk blocks nicely.
Carver stops Hawk from standing up.
Carver loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Carver is looking to work some ground and pound but Hawk has wrist control.
Carver will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Hawk has momentary wrist control but Carver slips an elbow through the middle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carver postures up and lands a big shot to Hawk's brow.
Carver in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Hawk utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Carver really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Hawk falls off balance throwing a combination
and Carver counters with a three punch combo that has Hawk backing up. Hawk nods at Carver to acknowledge the strikes.
A combination from Hawk does no damage.
Hawk throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Carver.
Hawk tries to bum rush Carver with a series of wild strikes but Carver uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Carver fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hawk, pushing him back against the cage.

Carver pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hawk comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Hawk gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Hawk changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Carver fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Hawk stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hawk wants it to stay on the feet.
Hawk throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Carver is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Hawk.

Sloppy strikes from Hawk. Those never looked like landing.
Hawk looks winded!
Hawk throws a right hand that Carver ducks under and follows up with a left that Carver also avoids with ease.
Hawk throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Carver counters with a series of strikes. Hawk will be more careful next time no doubt.
Hawk slaps away a takedown attempt from Carver, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Carver misses with a takedown attempt - Hawk sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bob Carver. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Carver decides to pull guard.
Carver avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Carver has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Carver manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Hawk stops a takedown attempt from Carver.
Carver wants to take the fight to the mat but Hawk manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Carver has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Hawk uses from the top position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Carver is on top in guard.

Carver is working Hawk over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Carver not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hawk can do anything to dispel that myth.

Hawk is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Carver distracts Hawk with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Carver postures up in Hawk's guard and throws a big left but Hawk blocks it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Carver avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Hawk fails to land with a series of punches.
Carver tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Hawk manages to circle out of the way.
Hawk keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Mike Hawk seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Carver scores with a nice right hand.

Hawk moves into range and clinches up with Carver.
Hawk has Carver pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Carver manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Hawk pushes Carver back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Hawk rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Carver moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
It looked like Carver was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Hawk is breathing heavily.
Hawk misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
As Hawk tries to get set, Carver tries to push him back and clinch up but Hawk manages to avoid the attempt.

Bob Carver has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Hawk.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Carver accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Carver slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Carver shoots in looking for a takedown. Hawk tries to sprawl out of it but Carver keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hawk manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Hawk throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Carver.

Hawk is fighting to break Carver's control of his arms but Carver is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Carver is looking to stand up but Hawk isn't so interested in that idea.

Carver is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Hawk rolls with it to try and escape but Carver cranks on the arm and Hawk is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
