Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Little Rick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Black Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Eddie Farnsworth and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rick looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Diaz is fending him off so far but Rick persists. Nope, Diaz circles away and we're back to standing.

Rick shoots in for a double leg but Diaz sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Rick throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Diaz was covering up waiting for the punch and Rick finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rick seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Diaz has his foot on Rick's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rick works his way back into a safe position though.

Rick drops back, looking for a kneebar! Diaz looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Diaz looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Diaz!

Black Diaz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Rick uses his free foot to push down on Diaz's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Diaz.
Rick tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Rick is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Diaz is in real trouble.

Rick manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Diaz manages to get himself to full guard.

Rick slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Rick got a little sloppy there for a moment and Diaz has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rick has managed to get both his arms back between Diaz's legs - danger averted.
