The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pillman throws a right and a left that Pez avoids nicely.
Pez blocks a jab.
Pillman throws a nice looking combination but Pez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Pez appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Pillman looks to land a left hand but Pez moved out of range nicely.
Pez misses with a looping right.
Pillman drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Pez defends it well.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Pillman has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Pillman fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Pez avoids it really well and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pillman shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Pez sprawls well. Pez wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pillman gets slowly back to his feet.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Pez is trying to control. Pillman wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Horrible takedown attempt by Pillman or perhaps it was just good defense by Pez, which made it look bad.

Fez Pez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Pillman .
Pez dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Pillman . That did some damage!

Pillman goes for a double leg but Pez avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Pez continues to drive forward.

Pillman gets tagged by a hook that puts him to sleep! Pez points and yells something to his unconcious foe before strutting off. Pillman wakes up just in time to hear Pez thank his coaches in the post fight interview.
