The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Igor Prikhodko and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hyde looking to score a takedown here. Swerdington is defending well but Hyde drives through and ends up in Swerdington's guard.

Hyde decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Swerdington pushes Hyde up against the cage in a clinch.
Hyde has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Swerdington avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Hyde changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Swerdington fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Swerdington scores with a one two! Hyde had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.


It looks like Max Hyde has been cut.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hyde has gone for a leg lock! Swerdington slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hyde's guard.

Hyde drops back, looking for a kneebar! Swerdington looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Swerdington looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Swerdington!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Hyde wants to control from the top but Swerdington keeps moving.

Hyde stands and steps away. Swerdington gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Swerdington moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
No joy there for Swerdington, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Swerdington enables Hyde to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Swerdington manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hyde with a flurry of punches that miss.

Hyde stands and steps away. Swerdington gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Hyde feints and as Swerdington raises his hands in defense, Hyde changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Hyde postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Swerdington is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Hyde, into his guard.

Farnsworth Swerdington is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Swerdington tries a low kick but Hyde avoids it.
Farnsworth Swerdington seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Swerdington throws a left and a right that both miss

and Hyde counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hyde.

Swerdington is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Hyde really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Hyde swings around for an armbar but Swerdington sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Hyde's guard.

Max Hyde overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Hyde can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Swerdington controls the pace.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Max Hyde.
I think Swerdington has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
