Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andy Askren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roscoe Jenkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roscoe Jenkins is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Andy Askren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Roscoe Jenkins!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Winston Alpacca and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jenkins changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Askren tries to avoid it but Jenkins manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Askren to the ground. Askren escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Askren seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Jenkins shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Askren defends it nicely.
Askren explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Askren throws a nice looking combination but Jenkins bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Askren tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Jenkins defends well and Askren ends up having to push Jenkins into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Jenkins throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Askren tries to counter with a takedown but Jenkins is quick to defend against it.

Jenkins scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Askren is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Jenkins off and has taken his back!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jenkins prevents Askren from getting a body triangle.
Askren is riding his opponent, not letting Jenkins buck him off.
Jenkins is trying to get back to his feet but Askren has full control of the position and if anything, Jenkins has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Askren patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Jenkins felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Jenkins wants to get back to his feet.

Jenkins is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Askren throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Askren controlling the position well here. Jenkins rolled but Askren kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Jenkins is trying to stand back up.
Jenkins has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Askren.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Askren trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Askren fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Jenkins fails with a takedown attempt.

Askren closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Jenkins quickly recovers to half guard.
Askren is looking to take a break and control but Jenkins is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Askren stalling away here and it's allowed Jenkins to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Askren tries to free his leg and advance position but Jenkins is retaining full guard.
Askren has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Askren slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Jenkins takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Jenkins enables Askren to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jenkins manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Askren in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Askren gets to his feet - Jenkins follows without any prompting.
Jenkins tries for a takedown but Askren sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Askren forces Jenkins back against the cage and clinches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jenkins missing with knees to the body.
Jenkins jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Askren walks away with a smile on his face. Jenkins gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Andy Askren has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roscoe Jenkins.

Askren appears to be looking for a big counter.

Askren clinches up against the cage.

Askren ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Askren no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Askren has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Jenkins should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Askren has tightened it up now! Jenkins should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
