And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joel Romero Basquez!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Ben Watson and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cohen closes the distance and clinches.
Basquez stalling in the clinch but Cohen improves position.
Basquez tries to land a knee to the head but Cohen blocks with his arms.
Basquez trying to control the position but instead, Cohen has worked for underhooks and has pushed Basquez into the cage.
Basquez wants to take the fight to the mat but Cohen manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Cohen manages to break the clinch.
Cohen takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Basquez misses with a head kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cohen clinches up with Basquez and pushes him back against the cage.
Cohen lands a left hand that snaps the head of Basquez backwards.

Cohen successfully pulls guard.
Cohen is pulling down on Basquez's head. It's preventing any offense from Basquez, at least for the moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cohen is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Beast Bar that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

Cohen pulls Basquez in to control the position.
Basquez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Cohen takes the fight into the clinch.

A low kick from Basquez is predictable there
and Cohen counters with a huge uppercut, hook combination that drops Basquez! The ref has seen enough - he's dived in to stop the fight! Brutal strikes by Cohen!
