PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jake Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gabriel Gasparotto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gasparotto has chosen Dengaz ft. Marcelo D2 - Tamo Juntos as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Arvi Lind and Johanna Lukiainen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gasparotto fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Davis, pushing him back against the cage.
Davis has Gasparotto pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Gasparotto manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Gasparotto breaks from the clinch.
Gasparotto displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Davis.
Gasparotto throws a fast counter high kick but Davis manages to duck under it in time.
Davis tries to clinch there but Gasparotto circles away.

Gasparotto has managed to clinch.

Gasparotto's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Davis fails in his attempt to clinch.
Davis doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Gasparotto rushes Davis and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Gasparotto pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Davis tries to close the distance and clinch but Gasparotto swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Gasparotto darts in and clinches Davis up against the cage.
Gasparotto is pressed up against the cage. Davis has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Gasparotto down to the mat. Gasparotto avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Davis. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gasparotto pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Gasparotto moves into range and clinches up with Davis.

Gasparotto misses with a hook from the clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Davis.
Davis blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Davis's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Gasparotto gets underhooks to prevent Davis's takedown attempt.
Davis has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Gasparotto is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Gasparotto breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Gasparotto shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Davis's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Davis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gasparotto doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gasparotto manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Davis shoots for a takedown but Gasparotto saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Davis fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Davis darts in looking for a takedown but Gasparotto gets double underhooks and turns Davis into the cage.
Gasparotto throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

A left hand lands to the body for Gasparotto.

Gasparotto lands a big right hand that sends Davis to the canvas! This could be the beginning of the end for Davis!

Davis is rocked!

Gasparotto decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Oh Davis is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Gasparotto drives through with a takedown into Davis's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Gasparotto gets to his feet - Davis follows without any prompting.
Gasparotto lands a jab and follows it up with a massive straight that knocks Davis out cold! Davis is crumpled in the corner, his head only propped up by the cage! That's one for the organiziational promos right there! Wow, what a finish!
