PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Olen Kidd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathan Nonglaire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nonglaire fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kidd avoids it really well and circles away.
Nonglaire fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Kidd looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Nonglaire stuffs the takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kidd feints and as Nonglaire raises his hands in defense, Kidd changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kidd wants to stand and escape but instead Nonglaire has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Nonglaire wants to get up but he can't break Kidd's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Nonglaire really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kidd. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That was a close round but I would say that Olen Kidd will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Kidd closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Nonglaire quickly recovers to half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Kidd shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Nonglaire's guard.

Nonglaire wriggles free and stands up.

Kidd tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nonglaire sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kidd somewhat.
Nonglaire throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kidd stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

It looked like Kidd was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Nonglaire.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
