PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pillow Hands (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Mcracken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mcracken has chosen Onra - I Wanna Go Back as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Pillow Hands!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Phil Mcracken!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Emerson Jorge and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hands throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mcracken was covering up waiting for the punch and Hands finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Hands throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mcracken works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Mcracken will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Hands tries to free his leg and advance position but Mcracken is retaining full guard.
Mcracken thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Mcracken throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Well, with Mcracken on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Hands is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Mcracken gets his hands free as Hands looks to control.
Mcracken is trying to stick to Hands's back but Hands is turning into Mcracken. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Mcracken's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Hands.

Hands drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hands jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That was a close round but I would say that Pillow Hands will probably get the nod.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mcracken passes into side control, despite Hands's attempt to control the position.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Mcracken enables Hands to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mcracken manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Mcracken is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Mcracken closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mcracken lands in his opponent's guard.
Phil Mcracken has got the better of the ground game so far.

Hands isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Mcracken stacks Hands on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Mcracken!

Phil Mcracken comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mcracken has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Phil Mcracken rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
