PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bartek Pietrzak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arjen Franck Robbery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Robbery has chosen Sirenia - Lost in Life as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, Bartek Pietrzak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Arjen Franck Robbery!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Chris Edwards and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Pietrzak misses.
Pietrzak steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Robbery.
Robbery shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Robbery tries to work over Pietrzak's front leg with a kick but Pietrzak checks it.
Robbery fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Pietrzak checks the leg kick.
Pietrzak is looking to score with low kicks.
Robbery appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Pietrzak stuns Robbery with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Robbery avoids the head kick by Pietrzak.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Robbery has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Pietrzak walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Pietrzak looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Robbery lands a nice looking body shot.
A slow jab from Robbery misses its intended target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Robbery connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Robbery closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Pietrzak wants to improve his position but Robbery is controlling well.
Pietrzak moves into full guard.
Pietrzak wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Robbery in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Robbery wants to pass the guard but Pietrzak is keeping the position.
Robbery trying to control but Pietrzak is working from the bottom.
Pietrzak is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Pietrzak is keen to just control but Robbery is a slippery customer.
Pietrzak tries to pass the half guard into mount. Robbery knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pietrzak stalling away here and it's allowed Robbery to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Pietrzak stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Robbery swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pietrzak accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Pietrzak throws an elbow that misses. Robbery uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Pietrzak's guard. Nice move by Robbery!

Pietrzak is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Robbery is fighting to break Pietrzak's control of his arms but Pietrzak is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Pietrzak not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pietrzak is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Robbery is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Pietrzak pulls Robbery in close to prevent any damage.

Well, if Pietrzak is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Robbery is looking for a sweep. Pietrzak is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Robbery won't allow Pietrzak to pass to mount.
Pietrzak looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Robbery with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Pietrzak is trying to control the action in half guard but Robbery is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Robbery throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Pietrzak shoots in looking for a takedown. Robbery tries to sprawl out of it but Pietrzak keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Robbery manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Robbery stuns Pietrzak with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Robbery connects with a leg kick. Pietrzak looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

It looks like Arjen Franck Robbery has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Robbery leaves Pietrzak with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Robbery works over Pietrzak's head and body with a nice combination.
Pietrzak shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Robbery counters with a lovely straight right hand!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Robbery lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Pietrzak has control of Robbery's left arm, preventing Robbery from doing any damage.
Robbery wants to pass the guard but Pietrzak is keeping the position.
Robbery is working Pietrzak over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Pietrzak tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Robbery tries to free his leg and advance position but Pietrzak is retaining full guard.
