Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rufus Ruffarino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keith Starr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Keith Starr!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Columbo Gatti and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruffarino misses with a wild body shot.

Keith Starr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Starr lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Starr had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ruffarino defends it easily.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ruffarino accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Ruffarino got a little sloppy there for a moment and Starr has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ruffarino has managed to get both his arms back between Starr's legs - danger averted.

Our spies down at at Demon's Elite Gym inform us that Starr has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

and Starr counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Ruffarino thinking.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Ruffarino shoots for a double leg takedown but Starr sprawls well. He's pushed Ruffarino's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Ruffarino swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Starr fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ruffarino, pushing him back against the cage.

Ruffarino has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Starr to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Ruffarino is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Starr pulls down on the head and he's put Ruffarino to sleep! This one is all over!
