These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Takeshi Tono!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Everaldo Junior!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Jeff Smith and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Junior misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
We've been hearing reports that Tono has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Junior lands with a slapping head kick.
Tono keeps the fight on the outside.
Junior pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Tono drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Junior tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Tono presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Junior really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Tono scoring with strikes but Junior is staying in there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Tono putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Tono lands a big elbow.

Junior is squirming around, avoiding Tono's attempts to control the action.

Junior is rocked!

Tono is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Junior has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Junior!
Junior is still in real trouble! Can Tono finish him?
Tono looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Tono pushes a forearm under Junior's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Junior is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Takeshi Tono!
Takeshi Tono gave a mention to Sun-Tzu in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
