Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Olsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Bates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jon Bates acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Shawn Olsen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jon Bates!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Donald Grub and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Olsen leaves Bates with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Olsen stuffs the takedown.
Bates thuds a left hand into Olsen's body.

Olsen really is a fat lump.
Bates jabs Olsen to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Bates is looking to clinch.
Olsen was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bates connects with a looping right hand.


It looks like Shawn Olsen has been cut.

Bates throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Olsen half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Olsen bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Bates explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Olsen tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Olsen has picked Bates up - he's going for a ride! Olsen dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Bates bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Olsen's guard.
Olsen might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Olsen is looking to stand up but Bates isn't so interested in that idea.

Bates gets to his feet. Olsen looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Olsen drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bates looks winded!
Bates is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Olsen is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Bates wants to hold on but Olsen pushes him away.

Bates tries to lock up and control but Olsen gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Olsen punishes Bates with strikes from the back mount.
Bates can't escape the position.
Olsen lands strikes to the head.

Bates shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Olsen but Olsen pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Olsen appears to be looking for a big counter.
Bates tries to clinch but Olsen moves out of range.
Olsen half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Olsen tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Bates defends well and Olsen ends up having to push Bates into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Bates bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Olsen's head.
Olsen misses with a jab, cross combination.
Olsen throws a sloppy head kick and Bates moves out of range easily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Bates misses with a knee strike.
Olsen drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Bates is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Olsen jumps guard but Bates stands there with Olsen around his waist. Olsen gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Bates has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Bates tries to pull guard but Olsen holds him up against the cage and eventually Bates drops back down to his feet.

Bates jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Olsen walks away with a smile on his face. Bates gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Olsen pushes Bates up against the cage in a clinch.
Bates has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Olsen is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Olsen keeps control of Bates as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Olsen has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Bates avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Olsen keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Bates's efforts to push away.

Olsen manages to break the clinch.

Bates has Olsen up against the cage in a clinch.
Olsen drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Bates gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Olsen jumps guard but Bates turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Olsen tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Olsen tightens his grip and picks Bates up, before dumping him to the ground. Bates manages to land in guard.

Bates pushes Olsen off and scrambles back to his feet.
Jon Bates seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bates comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Nice takedown defense from Olsen. No joy for Bates on that attempt.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Bates looks for a takedown but Olsen sprawls well.

Jon Bates showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Bates tries to score a body lock takedown but Olsen shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Bates has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Olsen wants a takedown but no success here.
Olsen stops a takedown attempt from Bates.
Nice body punch from Bates - that landed with a thud.
Olsen has Bates pressed against the cage, preventing Bates from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Olsen has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Bates clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Bates is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Olsen off. It looks like it's working - Olsen slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Bates displaying calm under pressure there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Bates moves into the clinch successfully.
Bates tries to break the clinch but Olsen is controlling the position.
Olsen fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Bates prevents a takedown attempt there.
Olsen tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Bates just stands there and leans against the cage.

Bates gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Olsen.
Bates is trying to push Olsen away but Olsen has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Olsen manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Bates throws a big right hand that misses.
Bates trying to control the position from guard on top but Olsen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Olsen working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bates doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bates manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Olsen is trying to control the position but Bates postures up.

Bates pushes down on Olsen's leg and manages to get into half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Olsen is not content to let Bates control the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Olsen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Olsen wants it to stay on the feet.

Olsen fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bates sprawls well initially but Olsen persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Bates is pressing down on Olsen's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Bates manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Olsen manages to get himself to full guard.

Bates drops back looking for a leg! Olsen is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Olsen manages to kick Bates off! Bates jumps back into Olsen's guard.
Olsen pulls Bates in close to his closed guard and prevents Bates from doing any damage or advancing position.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Shawn Olsen.
I think Olsen has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
