PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rubin Landry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Van Duzen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Van Duzen has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Andrew Van Duzen is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rubin Landry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Andrew Van Duzen!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Albert Achterberg and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Landry closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Van Duzen looks winded!

Landry pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Van Duzen feints and as Landry raises his hands in defense, Van Duzen changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Landry manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Van Duzen manages to get himself to full guard.
Landry working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Landry is in close to Van Duzen's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Landry's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Landry is working Van Duzen over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Landry missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Landry is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Landry makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Van Duzen is trying to hold Landry in close to prevent damage but Landry has managed to pass into half guard.
Landry really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Van Duzen misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Landry working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Van Duzen is looking for a sweep. Landry is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Landry is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Van Duzen has managed to free his arm - good work.

Landry is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Van Duzen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Landry. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Landry slips a nice elbow through Van Duzen's hands, connecting with Van Duzen's forehead.

Landry is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Landry has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Landry is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Landry is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Van Duzen is looking to improve his position.

Landry will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Landry has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Van Duzen is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Landry yanks on the arm and Van Duzen is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Landry.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Rubin Landry!
