PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Eli Rush (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alperen Yilmaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Eli Rush!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alperen Yilmaz!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Patrick Alders and Saam Ante.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rush has Yilmaz up against the cage in a clinch.

Yilmaz turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Yilmaz manages to end up in side control.

Rush throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Yilmaz tries to clinch there but Rush circles away.
Rush is looking to counter the offense by Yilmaz and move into the clinch.

Rush shoots in and bounces Yilmaz off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Yilmaz manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Yilmaz wants the takedown. Rush is fighting it off but Yilmaz persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Rush's guard against the cage.

Rush has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Yilmaz is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Rush breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Rush decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Yilmaz's guard.

Yilmaz scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Yilmaz doesn't manage to clinch there - Rush circles away.
Rush tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Yilmaz manages to circle out of the way.

Rush fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Yilmaz to the ground. Rush is now in Yilmaz's guard.
Rush prevents Yilmaz from getting back to his feet.

Yilmaz is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Rush presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Yilmaz turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Yilmaz manages to end up in side control.

Rush really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Rush is chipping away with strikes.

Rush works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Rush connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Yilmaz some visible discomfort.
Yilmaz is trying to control Rush's posture but Rush avoids it.
Rush lands a decent elbow from side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
You can see the frustration on Yilmaz's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Yilmaz tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Rush presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Yilmaz is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Rush cracks Yilmaz with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Yilmaz tries to reverse the position but Rush maintains control.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eli Rush dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Yilmaz throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Yilmaz throws a head kick but Rush moves out of range.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Yilmaz!

and Rush counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Rush.

Rush breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Rush swats away the attempt to clinch by Yilmaz.
And Rush counters with a quick kick to the body but Yilmaz blocks it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Yilmaz counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

and Yilmaz counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Rush is rocked!

Rush fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Yilmaz avoids it really well and circles away.
Yilmaz is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Oh Rush is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Yilmaz gets in close and tags Rush with a short punch that almost sends Rush to the mat! Oh Rush is in big trouble! He turns his back on Yilmaz, trying to create some distance but Yilmaz rushes him, striking wildly and Rush goes down! The referee tackles Yilmaz into the cage to end the fight! Yilmaz is one violent man!
