Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Teofilo Gavilan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Owain Palais!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gavilan fails with a takedown attempt.
Gavilan connects with a looping right hand.
Gavilan seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Gavilan lands a jab.
Palais moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gavilan shoots in but Palais avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Gavilan scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Gavilan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Palais manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Palais is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Gavilan lands a two punch combo.
Gavilan fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Palais looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Palais takes one on the button.
A left lands for Gavilan.
Gavilan lands a slapping body shot.
Gavilan has a takedown stuffed.
Palais tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Teofilo Gavilan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Palais takes one to the chin there.
Oooooh!!! Gavilan has knocked Palais down with a huge combo! Gavilan steps away and waves a wobbly Palais back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
It looks like Owain Palais has been cut.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Palais looks for a takedown but Gavilan sprawls well.
Gavilan lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Palais is looking to close the distance but Gavilan sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Palais crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Palais is OK because that was naaaaaasty!
