Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Benjamin English (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Bates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). English has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 1, fighting out of London, Benjamin English!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jon Bates!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, William Gold and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bates moves into the clinch successfully.
Bates can't get the takedown.
Bates managing to block the knees to the body from English.
English misses with a body punch.
Bates working hard to break the clinch.
Bates is looking to take this one to the mat.
Bates is trying to break the clinch but English is controlling him.
English tries a body shot but Bates blocks it.

Bates ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Bates no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
English is fighting to break Bates's control of his arms but Bates is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

English could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Bates rushes English and presses him up against the cage.
English tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Bates avoids it.
Bates has English pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. English manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as English accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

English lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Bates manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

English has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Bates uses from the top position.
Bates not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Bates is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. English is aware though and is defending well.
Bates seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
English postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Bates utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

English postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Bates managing to control the position.
English preventing the sweep.
English throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bates works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Bates manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. English manages to get himself to full guard.

Bates decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bates goes for a takedown attempt but English pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Benjamin English is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
English keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
English takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
English drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Bates gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Bates is trying to drag English to the mat but English just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Bates fails to pull guard.
English tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Bates smiles and moves away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Bates.

Bates throws a body punch but English moves out of range.
A little feinted left hand from English on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Bates gets in close and instigates a clinch.
English tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Bates smiles and moves away.
Bates shoots in but no luck this time.
English wants to clinch up but Bates keeps it at a distance.

Bates moves into the clinch successfully.
English managing to block the knees to the body from Bates.
English using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
English gets through Bates's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
English throws a head punch that misses.

Bates manages to break the clinch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from English is defended easily by Bates.

I would just about give that final round to Jon Bates.
I think Bates has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Jon Bates decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
