Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 13 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pikku Kakkipylly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 38 - 14 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gugo Ograni!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Konstantin Menshow and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kakkipylly keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Kakkipylly uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Ograni.
Ograni circles away from the clinch attempt.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Kakkipylly. Ograni shrugs it off though.

Kakkipylly gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.


It looks like Gugo Ograni has been cut.

Kakkipylly breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ograni moves out of range as Kakkipylly throws a body kick.
Ograni tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Kakkipylly moves into range and clinches up with Ograni.
Ograni drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ograni is working for takedown but Kakkipylly is calmly controlling the position for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Kakkipylly lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Kakkipylly tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ograni manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
It seemed like Ograni was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

and Ograni counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Ograni wants to control from the top but Kakkipylly keeps moving.

Kakkipylly manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ograni manages to get himself to full guard.

Ograni isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Kakkipylly stacks Ograni on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Kakkipylly!

Kakkipylly throws a chopping leg kick but Ograni manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
As Kakkipylly backs off Ograni throws a huge counter combo but Kakkipylly manages to avoid it all.

Ograni goes for a double leg but Kakkipylly avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kakkipylly continues to drive forward.

and Ograni counters with a three punch combo that has Kakkipylly backing up. Kakkipylly nods at Ograni to acknowledge the strikes.

Ograni shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kakkipylly's guard.
Ograni tries to free his leg and advance position but Kakkipylly is retaining full guard.

Kakkipylly manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Ograni keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Ograni has had enough of the clinch but Kakkipylly keeps him there for the moment.
Kakkipylly looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Kakkipylly is trying to escape back to his feet but Ograni uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Ograni stops Kakkipylly from getting back to his feet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Pikku Kakkipylly.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kakkipylly, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
