PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Darius Moran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brick Dankster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Darius Moran!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Brick Dankster!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Vladimir Khabensky and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moran tries to clinch up but Dankster circles away and keeps his distance.

Dankster rushes Moran and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Dankster lands a takedown into guard.
Moran is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Dankster dives into side control.
Moran tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Dankster easily slips into full mount!
Moran tries to lock up and control but Dankster gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Moran is bucking up trying to escape but Dankster cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Moran sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Moran could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Dankster prevents Moran from standing back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dankster controlling the pace.
Dankster is thwarting Moran's attempts to control the position.
Dankster prevents Moran from improving his position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dankster wants to stand but Moran has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Dankster landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Moran is trying to maintain the position but Dankster is very close to passing his half guard.
Moran tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Dankster has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Dankster manages to capitalize on a mistake by Moran to take his back!
The referee is taking a good look at Moran as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Dankster!

I really don't envy Moran right now.
Dankster is landing with strikes from the back.

Dankster really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Moran.
Moran trying to control the hands but Dankster breaks the grip.
Moran is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Dankster has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Dankster controlling the positon.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Moran is trying to break free.

Moran is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Moran manages to reverse the position and now he's in Dankster's guard. Nice work there by Moran.
Dankster lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Moran pulls Dankster in close to prevent any damage.
Dankster is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Moran working a defensive guard but Dankster manages to pass into side control anyway.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Dankster is chipping away with strikes.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Dankster grinds an elbow into Moran's temple.
Dankster just content to control the position.
Dankster works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Dankster controlling from side mount.
Moran is trying to control Dankster's posture but Dankster avoids it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dankster connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Moran some visible discomfort.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brick Dankster dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Moran tries to keep at a distance but Dankster has taken the fight into the clinch.

Dankster pulls guard successfully.
Moran throws a big elbow that misses.
Moran wanted to stand there but Dankster had control of the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dankster working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Moran.
Moran wants to stand and escape but instead Dankster has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Dankster is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Moran trying to keep a closed guard but Dankster is proving a slippery customer.
Moran lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Dankster is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Dankster moves into the clinch successfully.

Dankster breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Moran wants to break the clinch but can't.

Dankster jumps into guard, dragging Moran to the mat.
Moran missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Moran has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Moran throws an elbow that misses. Dankster uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Moran's guard. Nice move by Dankster!

Moran looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dankster is one step ahead there.
Moran will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Brick Dankster has got the better of the ground game so far.
Moran lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Dankster seems keen to control Moran's posture.

Dankster has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Moran can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Moran is fighting to break Dankster's control of his arms but Dankster is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Moran wants to stand and escape but instead Dankster has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Moran looks to clinch
and Dankster counters with a series of strikes. Moran will be more careful next time no doubt.


Moran is rocked!

Dankster clinches.
Oh Moran is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Dankster dips a shoulder and cracks Moran with a mighty uppercut! Moran falls back against the cage and Dankster unloads with a barrage of strikes! Moran is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Dankster screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Brick Dankster!
