Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ronnie Cantu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chucky Mcflannigan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ronnie Cantu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chucky Mcflannigan!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cantu gets caught napping as Mcflannigan dives in and scores a takedown. Cantu manages to retain guard.
Mcflannigan trying to control the position from guard on top but Cantu is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mcflannigan seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Cantu is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mcflannigan defends well.
Cantu can't keep his opponent in guard - Mcflannigan advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cantu is refusing to be controlled, as Mcflannigan sits in half guard.

Cantu is trying to maintain the position but Mcflannigan is very close to passing his half guard.

Mcflannigan postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Cantu to stand up.

Mcflannigan manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Cantu on his heels. He'll look to pass Cantu's guard now, I'm sure.

Cantu is looking to escape.
Cantu is not content to let Mcflannigan control the position.
Mcflannigan is just content to waste time from the top position. Cantu takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Cantu really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Cantu is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Mcflannigan passes Cantu's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Mcflannigan thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cantu's head.

Mcflannigan tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cantu paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Cantu drops down looking for a counter takedown but Mcflannigan sprawls and moves away.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cantu is defended easily by Mcflannigan.
Cantu is breathing heavily.

Mcflannigan gets a double leg takedown into Cantu's guard.
Mcflannigan chips away with some ground and pound.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chucky Mcflannigan dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Mcflannigan throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cantu was covering up waiting for the punch and Mcflannigan finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Mcflannigan wants to control from the top but Cantu keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cantu tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Mcflannigan looking to sit in guard and control but Cantu gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mcflannigan controlling the position.
Mcflannigan preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Ronnie Cantu is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Mcflannigan has closed the distance and engaged Cantu in a clinch.

Mcflannigan gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Mcflannigan has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Cantu is working an open guard so Mcflannigan takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Cantu shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
enabling Mcflannigan to counter with a crisp jab.


It looks like Ronnie Cantu has been cut.

Mcflannigan clinches up with Cantu and pushes him back against the cage.

Mcflannigan gets control of Cantu's arms and successfully pulls guard. Mcflannigan will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Mcflannigan tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Cantu distracts Mcflannigan with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Mcflannigan controls Cantu momentarily but Cantu frees himself.
Cantu chips away with some ground and pound.
Mcflannigan is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Cantu is looking to work some ground and pound but Mcflannigan has wrist control.
Mcflannigan is trying to keep Cantu in close.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Mcflannigan tries to clinch up
and Cantu counters with a one-two to the body.
Cantu shoots in looking for a takedown but Mcflannigan manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Cantu's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Chucky Mcflannigan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Mcflannigan tries to throw a body punch but Cantu avoids it by throwing Mcflannigan back against the cage.

Cantu breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Mcflannigan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Cantu manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Mcflannigan.
Cantu is looking to counter the offense by Mcflannigan and move into the clinch.

Cantu has had enough of the clinch but Mcflannigan keeps him there for the moment.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Cantu connects with a nice short shot to Mcflannigan's temple.

Cantu is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mcflannigan defends it well.

Chucky Mcflannigan is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Mcflannigan throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Well Mcflannigan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
